I think the definition of NooB has come into call! So far it means new player, idiot, inexperienced, arse hole, ----er amoungst other things! The point is it doesnt really achieve alot. I have run people from ascalon all the way to the desert as favours! I generally dont approve to be honest but I get bored. These people generally are bringing up there 3rd char and can no longer be bothered working at the game. These people seem to have some of the most "noobish" behaviour of all. Perhaps NooB is a bit like Chav in this country (uk only sorry) more of a class thing now. Noobs are like the little scrotes who sit on street corners spitting and trying to bully other folks. Kinda think they are better than others because they can buy beer at 14 and wear all the right clothes. Of course its this type who are most likely to be calling others names like noobs! Oh I dont know! You elite speakers should come up with a new one so I can spot it and know exactly what your reffering too

Why do so many people care what others think? I mean truly, why would a complete and random stranger calling you something actually annoy you that much. Why do people care enough about what random names in a video game say, to the point that they'll stop doing Random Arenas, make a thread, etc.

If a random jumble of letters in a video game, saying one word has that much influence on you. I seriously think you need help, because after all it's just a game.

in my experience, some skilled players will get called noobs for bringing their own build. For example i use to solo with a mo/e, all the other UW mo/w didn't believe me and yet from what i heard mo/w aren't better than me . But those days were long past, where prot bond was great

learning to deal with being called name was a skill that was meant to be learned in preschool. While calling someone a name shows that you are still at that level, crying over it isn't much better...

It is just a game I agree but from my experience half the people on the game take it a little more seriously than that. As for jumbled up letters causing offence I'd like to bring the attentions of loads of jumbled up letters causing serious offence and not just in computer games. I tore down a BNP poster from a bus shelter the other day which was honestly disgusting. I dont care what people call me really it just seems so pointless to do the calling in the first place.
The first GVG I ever did the team trashed us quickly then proceeded to run around calling us noobs before we eventually zoned out! What was the point? They defeated us so why name call. More recently again defeated in gvg (I suck at GVG) the team had killed us all but we had a lovely chat with them as they slowly killed all our NPC's.
Im guessing using Noob if you honestly have to be offencive is better than other things you can say but then U cant adjust my chat filter to allow swearing but block Noob

Fair enough we all learned how to have the piss taken out of us at pre school so why still put up with it? Im just trying to get people to think a little more. Id would personally rather be called a C--T than a noob! Or try something creative. Egotistical mouse dropping seems to apply in a few scenarios. Guess you cant change the world but theres no harm in trying

CHUNK MONKEY its the way forward!! Right Im not posting anymore on this thread. Nice to see other peoples opinions. Look out for chunk monkey being used in a town or outpost near you (perhaps egotistical mouse dropping for those special occasions)

Noob is like that Seinfeld episode, when Georges dad uses Serenity Now as a stress reliver, if more noobs occur, well watch the episode. Just watch your computer.

It does off mine. I prefer being specific instead of blurting out a retarded phrase such as the likes of "Noob"

Agreed. But it's so much easier to deal with retarded people (okay, I'm really generalizing and being insulting here) with retarded phrases, is it not?

Here's a novel idea: people stop being so insulting and detrimental of others. But wait, thats not human nature, so it won't stop. To the OP: I feel your pain, do like me, turn local off and don't group with people you don't know. There are many times I've felt like insulting others because they truly were terrible, but plenty of people use it to shift the blame off themselves. People aint worth the hassle.

How about boob, I like the sound of that better, or bob, unless it's actually the person's name maybe, lol.

Except that noob means, literally 'arrogant idiot.' It has long since split from newb, which means new person.

The problem isn't in the word, it's in the people who use the two improperly. A single mistake doesn't warrant either. Newb is not an insult, it's simply a descriptive to say someone is new to the game/area/character type.

Noob on the other hand is a direct insult towards someone who is all of what my first post held. An arrogant, unlearning, idiotic player that refuses to improve when offered advice.

Noob or nub (any variation) are the lamest insults ever. Come'on, they sound like 10 year olds. I always questioned the person's (the jerks) intelligence for using those words and asked them if they can come up with anything better than that. Then insult them in a witty intelligent way which will make them feel stupid than they already are.

And what's with the word "scrub?" Another unintelligent insult by the ten year olds. Are we still in the 90's? For the people that use it, do they want to be in the singing group TLC or something? xD

It is not easy, because I am provoked every minute. I really really really try to ignore other's mistakes, and look more closely at mine.
I try to live up my name, but it is not easy when the same mistakes are made, by the same person, over and over again. Even if he also dies over and over again.
It is terrible, when you want a quest very desperately, but it gets spoiled by strangers, who couldn't care less.

Is there anyone here who can use the term 'noob' in earnest and not feel like a childish nerd? While I find it easy to ignore those moronic enough to use the word, you still shouldn't be able to type those four letters and continue to hold any self respect.
